With TK8 you’ll have the freedom of choice to run the same version of K8s anywhere and it comes with enterprise grade support from Kubernauts.IO community and other partners such as Clouds Sky GmbH. TK8 extends Kubespray to provide support for Upstream / Vanilla Kubernetes and OpenShift Origin for OpenStack, Bare-Metal and EKS, with additional capabilities such as multi-os and multiple add-ons support.
RKE doesn’t support the provisioning of the base infrastructure for you. Rancher provides also his own Rancher Kubernetes Engine (RKE), which is a custom Kubernetes Cluster installer and implementation of upstream Kubernetes. You can run Rancher server on any K8s cluster or on a single VM or multiple VMs anywhere. Rancher is a container and K8s cluster management platform built on Kubernetes itself. TK8 provides the easiest deployment method for Kubespray. TK8 is mainly a CLI which acts as a wrapper around Kubespray written in Golang to support the deployment of high available K8s clusters with Kubespray with some additional capabilities such as multi-os and multiple add-ons support.
TK8 is the short name of “The Kubernaut” or “The Kubespary” (“ubernaut” and “ubepsray” have 8 characters).
